Naperville is an Illinois city located about 30 miles west of Chicago. The city is located in DuPage and Will counties and has a population of approximately 146,128 people according to the U.S. Census Bureau. In 2016, a report released by financial website NerdWallet ranked Naperville as the wealthiest city in the Midwest.

Originally named Naper’s Settlement, Naperville was founded in 1831 by Joseph Naper. In 1839, Naper’s Settlement became the county seat of DuPage County after the county was split from Cook County. Naperville remained a predominantly rural community until the 1960s when the community experienced significant growth that continued into the 1990s due to the construction of the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway. Naperville celebrated its 185th anniversary in 2016.

Naperville is home to several amenities that contribute to the wonderful quality of life experienced by its residents. The Naperville Public Library was ranked as the best in the United States from 1999 to 2010 by Hennen’s American Public Library Ratings. Naperville is also home to the Naperville River Walk, often referred to as the Crown Jewel of the city. Located along the banks of the DuPage River, the one-mile river walk consists of brick paths, outdoor artwork, bridges and more. Also located in Naperville is North Central College, providing residents of the city excellent classroom experiences on a beautiful campus.

Naperville is located in a climate that experiences warm summers and cold winters. Daytime temperatures during the months of June, July and August tend to remain in the 80s but can reach the upper-90s. Individuals will find it is wise to install central air conditioning units in their homes. These systems will help keep residents cool indoors when heat waves visit the city. Also, residents should install heat pumps or furnaces in their homes. These systems are crucial for individuals who want to protect their homes and remain warm during the cold winter months.
